Iraq Roundup..(not to ruin your day)

Today, while the Bush loyalists are busy coming up with new catchy slogans for Democrats, printing new bumper stickers, coordinating talking points, and ignoring generally accepted logic:
1. Three separate bombings in Iraq today killed 93 Iraqis, 4 American Soldiers, and 1 British Soldier.
That would bring the total number of GI’s killed in Iraq to 78 for July, and the total number of Iraqi civilians killed to 1,670. For comparison’s sake, this time last year 1,280 Iraqis and 46 GI’s were killed. You tell me if that’s progress–or if the surge is working.
2. The largest Sunni Bloc of the new Iraqi government resigned from Parliament today.
“The government is continuing with its arrogance, refusing to change its stand and has slammed shut the door to any meaningful reforms necessary for saving Iraq,” said Rafaa al-Issawi, a leader of the Sunni Accordance Front. The resignation essentially removes 18% of the Parliament and the largest Sunni influence.
Right on cue, Bush spokeshero Tony Snow downplayed the major setback, “We’re keeping an eye on the situation, but let’s keep in mind that it is not a complete withdrawal from the political process.” Right. I think we’d be pretty concerned if 18% of the House of Representatives or Congress decided to resign. That’d be a pretty good indicator that national governmental progress isn’t quite what you assholes said it was.
3. Eight million Iraqis (33% of the population) are without water, sanitation, food and shelter and need emergency aid.
I know, I know Republicans, Iraqis don’t count as people to you. Solution: replace ‘Iraqis’ with ‘God-fearing White Christians,’ then respond appropriately.

Actually, if 18% of the House of Representatives or Congress decided to resign, I’d call it a promising start.
